4 inspiring business leaders as nominated by Mahi

Running a business is no small feat and it’s certainly not for the faint of heart. Learning from mistakes, overcoming challenges, knowing your strengths and weaknesses and leading a productive, happy team are just a few things required to keep a successful business thriving.

That might already seem like a lot to keep on top of, so what does a leader need to do to achieve ‘inspirational’ status? We put this question to Team Mahi by asking them which business leaders they currently take inspiration from - here’s who they nominated.

Reshma Saujani

One of the top 10 business leaders in the world, lawyer-turned-activist, Reshma Saujani, has one clear mission: to close the gender job gap in the computer science industry. Her non-profit organisation, Girls Who Code, is currently helping approximately 90,000 girls to learn how to code. Offering a variety of programming languages, the organisation means that those who undertake training with Girls Who Code are 15 times more likely to major in IT fields.

Reed Hastings

Wilmot Reed Hastings Jr. is the co-founder, chairman and CEO of a little streaming service you might have heard of - Netflix. However, what truly sets him apart is the additional work he undertakes as a member of various boards and non-profit organisations, investing his spare time in effecting positive, meaningful change in areas that he’s passionate about. One such example is the California State Board of Education, which works to achieve educational improvements across the state.

Steve Jobs

Whilst he might not have invented the wheel (or in this case, computer), Steve Jobs certainly reinvented it. With a meticulous eye for detail, clear vision in what he wanted to achieve, and a unique talent for inspiring people, Jobs was a pioneer of the personal computer era. Overseeing the launch of revolutionary products including the iPod and iPhone, he took Apple from a startup to the world’s largest technology provider.

Eric S Yuan

Voted one of the best CEOs to work for in the US in recent years, Eric S Yuan is the founder and CEO of Zoom Video Communications (which you might’ve become much more familiar with over the last 18 months!) However, the most notable thing about Yuan isn’t his impressive $1billion company, it’s his definition of success. Yuan defines success as being happy, and passionate about your job, rather than making a lot of money or being famous. Furthermore, he believes that the most successful companies are those that focus on their customers, and are able to adjust easily to changes and challenges they are faced with.
